Maindec Computer Solutions Ltd has been honoured for outstanding achievement at this year's Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland. The organisation was crowned winners in the GO Best Service Award category at the recent GO Awards Scotland 2011-12 event. This Award recognises the contribution that suppliers make in the delivery of public sector services in Scotland. |
Accepting the Award, Iain MacLean, Maindec Computer Solutions Ltd, said: "It is absolutely marvellous and I'm totally astounded to win the Award tonight. It was fairly unexpected if I'm honest, but a remarkable achievement for a company like Maindec, which is comparatively small in our industry. We are in competition with some of the biggest players in the IT market services globally. We were awarded the contract on which this award is based back in 2005 and we then displaced the global leader in our industry. Over the contract period our service delivery team has been absolutely amazing in delivering a staggering 100% service delivery towards the aims of the contract. That's been recognised by the customer, Scottish Government, especially ISIS."
The GO Awards Scotland, organised by BiP Solutions, are the only Awards dedicated to public procurement in the region. The Awards ceremony was held on the evening of the Scottish Government Seventh National Public Procurement Conference on 25 October at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
The judging panel for the GO Awards Scotland 2011/12 included many of the procurement and business community's leading experts: John McClelland, Chair of the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council; Alastair Merrill, Commercial and Procurement Director, Scottish Government; Dorothy Cowie, Director, Scotland Excel; Barry Graham, Head of Professional Services and Capability, Collaborative and Scottish Government Procurement; Vince McKeown, Director, Membership & Partnership Services, SCDI; Nikki Bell, Deputy Head of Scottish Procurement Policy & Strategy, Scottish Government; Liz Cameron Chief Executive, Scottish Chambers of Commerce; Grahame Steed, Managing Editor, Government Opportunities and Morven MacNeil, Content Editor, Government Opportunities.

Maindec partners with Triton Consulting to deliver DB2 support to clients - July 2011
Both companies set to benefit from exposure to combined client base
IT solutions and support specialists Maindec, today announces it has partnered with leading IBM DB2 support specialist Triton Consulting, to deliver a seamless hardware and software support service.
Triton's industry-leading Remote DBA service offers the reassurance of stable, secure management for all components of a client's DB2 infrastructure, without the associated staffing and technical issues, and simplifying database management. As one of IBM's Premier Partners, Triton provides a full range of services from DB2 consultancy through to education and 24/7 system support.
Commenting on the reasons behind the partnership being formed, Laura Hood, Marketing Manager at Triton comments, "Triton recognises that the services provided by the company are very niche and we do not provide hardware support. Therefore we see the benefit of partnering with other high quality service organisations. By partnering with Maindec we are able to provide customers with a full support solution."
Hood continues, "The partnership with Maindec is mutually beneficial for both companies. If we see there is a need for the hardware support that Maindec provides in our existing customer base, then we can recommend Maindec and manage the support they provide. Likewise, Triton's DB2 expertise adds an extra dimension to the portfolio of services Maindec can offer its customers and prospects."
Maindec's Operations Director, Paul Timms, adds, "There is no overlap in terms of the services the two companies offer, which makes it the perfect partnership – opening up new revenue streams to everyone involved. Triton doesn't do hardware support, and Maindec doesn't do DB2 support, but together we can provide a collaborative service to better serve customers' needs. Both companies are similar in terms of technical proficiency and I would not hesitate in directing Maindec's long standing customers in Triton's direction should there be a requirement for DB2 technical expertise that are not Maindec's field of expertise."
