About Ollies

Steve & Linda Harris bought Ollies (then known as Huberts) in Oct 94 and have been actively involved with a very much "hands on" commitment ever since.

Huberts was a seedy place with a reputation for fights, drugs, poor management and consequently had a rough clientele , but Steve & Linda saw it had the potential and location to be developed into a venue featuring the music they enjoyed listening & dancing to.

The name of the premises was changed to Ollies (a nickname of a family member) and the music policy was changed to include only soul, jazzfunk, fusion, R&B, Latin and Smooth jazz. 

A conscious effort to improve the clientele saw the undesirable crowd turned away and with a personal management style setting higher standards of service a new loyal and regular customer base was established. 

Good quality freshly prepared food at reasonable prices was introduced.

The Funksion room was established as a 300 capacity venue for party nights and live music featuring both established and young talented artistes, attracting customers from as far away as Southampton and Oxford, and for one live gig from as far as the USA!

The bar was refurbished entirely and an over 21's policy was introduced to further enhance its atmosphere, allowing guests to enjoy the selection of fine wines, beers, spirits and cocktails in a comfortable adult environment.

Every Thursday thru Saturday the bar features DJ's playing a wide ranging selection of Soul, Jazz, Funk, Fusion & Latin recorded over the last forty years.
