Weather           Fine (though windy in the Chairman’s Group)

Well it certainly looked grand as we waited for the double electric gates to open. This was a new course for us that we had no information on, but by all reports was worth a visit.There was plenty of water to keep up the interest, and if that wasn’t enough, the light rough consisted mainly of clover (no fun for us wild high handicappers) and the rough beyond that was even more penal. That said, the course was well laid out, especially when so many new courses consist of walking up and down parallel fairways. It was said that the sign mentioning the drop zone on the 18^th tee was not marked clearly enough, but only by those who hit their 2^nd and even 3^rd re-loads into the lake!

  First place went to new member John Andrews, whose winning score was even more remarkable as his front nine was 54 gross, but the back nine was a model of consistency of a golfer with a lower handicap than 24 to enable John to card a net 69. 2^nd place was taken by Andy Hicks and 3^rd went to Mr Consistency, Matt Sailes. Joining the in the Angel Cup (much to his relief) is Beefy who won the highest s/ford points out of the top 3.

  Longest drive went to Andy (big boy) Hicks, while nearest the pin went to Kelvin “the only decent shot all day” Lewis.

  A quick get well soon to our fixture secretary Dave Adams, whose season has been curtailed by a broken leg, but he still arranges these fixtures. This was not the best course we will play, but all courses were new once. If they spend the money on the course not making the clubhouse look palatial, this is a place with potential.
