The Macam Medal, The Herefordshire Golf Club, September 9th
A glorious day, with one of our favourite courses at its picturesque best greeted a refreshingly large society turnout for the final weekend medal of the season.
A regular fixture on the calendar, but it has been a while since we played it with the greens showing their teeth.
Yes you can plot your way around here from tee to green but you card is never far from disaster, with more tales of woe and double figure scores recorded this visit.
Beefy loves this course, and boy did his round show this. One over gross after 11 holes! He carded a superb net 66 to stroll to an impressive eight shot win. Two other
Long-standing Herefordshire fans, Kelvin and Milo completed the top three with distant podium finishes. The other winners were Moggy for his nearest the pin on 15, and Russ for the longest drive.
Many thanks to our guests (and potential future members) and a mention must be given to Andy Hicks who can wave a tearful good bye to the 18 handicap he started the day on having carded a net 63 being one under gross on the back 9!
Now all the Angel Cup places are known and have to sit and wait to see if we have made selection for the Ryder Cup. Good luck Lads.
