The first Saturday Medal of the season saw a dozen members battle the mid day sun on a very well presented Worfield course.Tees and Greens were in excellent condition, but the heat made it tough going for everyone, with a relatively high score of net 78 winning the day.Winner of the day was Roy Amphlett with a wind assisted net 78 followed closely by Kev “I always lose on count back” Lloyd, also with a net 78. Nev Green completed the podium positions with a net 79.Nev rounded off a successful day by also winning nearest the pin and the SHIT (Short Holes In Three) award.

After a torrid round that included everything from an eagle to a 4 putt 9, Dave Brierley managed to salvage some pride by winning the longest drive. He also went home with the satisfaction of knowing that he would be administering a healthy cut to the Chairman’s handicap.

The recently resurrected award for Sartorial Omelette was a close run affair with Kev Lloyd in his rather fetching Salmon pink top and Kelvin dressed as Crocodile Dundee, but Miles took the accolade… just for being Miles.

  Kelvin didn’t go home empty handed either, he was the recipient of a new award, ‘the Strongbow moment’ this is a slightly down market version of the Champagne moment. He won it for a dodgy drive that hit the ladies tee block and bounced back up to him.
